There has been an important development in our ongoing efforts to secure negotiated collective agreements for Urban and RSMC members. In addition to the work being done through the Inquiry Commission, a parallel three-day negotiation process will also be taking place on January 15, 16, and 17. William Kaplan, who was appointed by the Minister of Labour Steven MacKinnon to carry out the Commission, will be taking on the role of Mediator.
This parallel process presents a crucial opportunity to discuss our major issues and potentially reach collective agreements. While we remain optimistic that negotiated collective agreements can be achieved during this three-day process, it’s important to recognize that the work of the Commission must also continue. The Commission remains a vital forum to present and address the broader issues and structural changes to the public post office and how they affect all members and the public.
We are focused and dedicated to the negotiation process and the Commission to ensure the best possible outcome for CUPW members. Your solidarity and support throughout this period are invaluable, and we encourage members to stay engaged and informed. We will keep you updated on the progress of both the parallel negotiations and the Commission’s work as they develop.
