Which side are you on? Your vote matters this June 2

Workers’ voices will be crucial in this year’s provincial election. Over the last four years, Doug Ford and the Ontario PC Party have made several changes to how workers are treated in this province. If Ontario reelects the Ford government to a majority it would encourage those regressive changes. Or, we can reject those changes by electing a different party with a worker-friendly vision. Every vote counts!

We all must decide how to cast our own ballot. If you are unsure how to vote, here are some questions you might ask yourself:

1. Which party cancelled the provincial rebates for zero-emissions vehicles, and set back the development of an electric vehicle charging infrastructure on our highways?
   
   
2. Just before the pandemic, in 2019, which party was in power when they removed the 3-days of sick leave provision?
   
   
3. Again, just before the pandemic, which Premier decided to cancel the planned increase in the minimum wage?
   
   
4. Which party attacked Gig Workers (which is an attack on all of us)? Which party made laws that set the minimum wage for these workers at a rate below even what the bosses were asking for, and then made that minimum wage only applicable to time on delivery?
   
   
5. Which party has been attacking our universal healthcare system? Who is doubling down on private long-term care; maintaining Bill 124 – the 1% cap on nurses’ wages which undermines their bargaining rights; and talking about opening the door to private hospitals?
