Union Delegation to May Day Activities in Cuba April 28 to May 4, 2019

The National Executive Board has adopted the following resolution:

“BE IT RESOLVED that CUPW send a six‑person delegation composed of an equal number of union leaders and rank-and-file members to take part in May Day activities in Cuba, from April 28 to May 4, 2019.”

CUPW’s 2019 delegation will take part in the May Day celebrations and in the international Solidarity Conference in Cuba, meet postal workers, visit postal installations and will obtain information on the Urban collective agreement Appendix “R” solidarity project.

It will also take part in celebrations marking the 80th anniversary of the Cuban Workers’ Central (CTC).

You Can Apply Now

The following criteria will apply in selecting the participants:

  • Applicants must have demonstrated commitment to the Union.
  • Applicants who have experience with the issues and activities involved in the delegation’s visit will receive priority consideration. 
  • The delegation will be gender balanced, except in extraordinary circumstances.
  • Insofar as possible, the delegation will contain members of equity-seeking groups.

Participants will be required to write a 300-500 word report on their experiences as a delegate, and this report will then be circulated among the membership.
